Dilemma

Hello everyone, Nick here! You've probably noticed I haven't posted in a while and I would like to clarify. I've reached a major dilemma concerning Quest Incorporated. My art is...not the best and it bugs me. I am very slow so I cannot deliver  the comic at the speed I would like and I feel my art does not match the scenes I want to portray. I love this story and want it to be so much more than it is.
As I said I'm not an artist and I can barely do art at all to be honest so that brings me to a big Dilemma. Do I continue with the comic as is? Or do I post it some other way. I'm honestly at a complete loss as for what to do so any input would be helpful. Thanks, and just a formal announcement that won't be doing anything for a while. Thank you!

Re:Zero Episode 1 Part 1 Review

Episode One Part A: Re:zero is an anime about a nerdy otaku named Natsuki Subaru who is sucked into a fantasy realm. If have watched anime, you know that this a very overused trope by now. It’s so run into the ground the mere mention of being a “lost in a fantasy world anime” plot will have some dismiss from that alone. While Re:zero does seem to be rather typical something about it just pulled me it. The episode rather stared on a creepy note, something unusual for this genre.
After Subaru is pulled into this world is when things get really fun. Subaru obviously has seen just as many of this kind of anime as we have and it leads to a lot of rather hilarious circumstances. As this happens the show itself begins to lovingly parody the kind of show it was originally trying be as Subaru questions why he isn’t the center of attention to some pretty girls. Instead of having him be your typical Gary Stu, everything goes all-right for me kind of guy, the show opts to make Subaru a lovable loser. His overreactions and attempted heroism make Subaru have a very distinct personality.
Eventually he meets “Satella” (have a feeling that isn’t her real name) a beautiful mage girl with white hair, and her sprit companion, Puck. Subaru vows to help her get her insignia back, on the grounds that he must perform one good deed per day. At least that’s what he said, but he is obviously doing it for different reasons. I really liked this girl and she seemed a lot deeper than your typical love interest. I am not sure what is it about her that seems more well written but there is a lot hidden meanings in what she says and little personality traits that drew me in.  Her bitterly mentioning being a half-elf was a great way to show that this world is different that your typical fantasy world without actually saying anything. A great moment to be sure.
As they narrow down where her insignia might be the show reacquires that eerie feeling present in the beginning of the episode. I am not sure but it seems like something will go very wrong in the next episode.

Overall this was a very strong first episode of a show. The characters a very well written and it has a  lot going on. I still have to watch part two but I just thought I’d bring you my thoughts on this episode. I give this episode 4 out of 5 stars and highly recommend  it.

About the recent Steven episode... (rant)

So there was recent development in Steven Universe that has me more than a little disappointed. In the recent episode “Monster Reunion” *spoilers ahead* Steven partially heals the Centipeedle with his healing spit that he got back. How did he get it back? He was just sitting around and he just got them back. JUST. LIKE. THAT. For me, this so wrong on so many levels.

First of all: There was no build up! You may say that they couldn’t or didn’t have the time but that is complete bullcrap. Steven has spent the past few episodes just putzing around in Beach City, not doing more than interacting with the town. Are the writers really stupid enough to prioritize status quo over logical plot build up? This all just came completely out of left field.

Second: Why? In shows with powers of this caliber new powers typically emerge in times of crisis or great emotion. Heroes usually have to train for weeks or something along those lines. They have to fail a lot before they get the hang of it. While healing spit has been dormant for awhile we’ve been shown no signs of Steven training to get it back. Even if he’d been doing it off screen they didn’t even tell us that. While I do believe Steven is emotionally attached to that bear, I don’t think it was quite important enough to warrant Stevie getting his powers back. All of the past episodes have shown Steven obtaining his powers at points of great emotion involving the people in his life.

Now I know what you’re thinking “But Nick!!! Stevie first used his shield because of some ice cream way back in episode oneeeeeee!!!” Yes, while that is true that is a very poor excuse as well. Steven just kinda haphazardly got of flash of his shield and it went nowhere. He didn’t gain good control over it like he did with the spit in this episode.

There was really no tension or reason for Steven to get his powers. Nobody was in danger, he hadn’t just gone on a big adventure and got berated for not being his mom, and he wasn’t trying to save connie. And he just randomly got them back.

I guess what I’m going for here is that the writers basically just said “This is a thing now”
AND YOU CAN’T DO THAT!!! That’s like the number one rule of writing! We came to see a story happening not it not happening! It’d be one thing if you’d have shown us hints but you didn’t! It just came out of nowhere and it’s pissing me off! Ughhhhhhh…

I think I need to go sit down for awhile and watch some Gravity Falls. If you noticed hints about this that I didn’t then feel free to tell me. See you factoring Hectopascals later.

No page this monday(today)

Hello, I'd just like to announce that there will be no new page today as I have been a bit behind lately and want to take my time rather than rush through things. I was put behind about a week ago and I have been struggling to catch up. So I will be taking today off from the making the page. Thanks!

The Powerpuff Girls (2016 version)

Well, that was...something. Yeah. It is time for my review of the brand new Powerpuff Girls show. This show is a reboot of another show also called The Powerpuff Girls, which happens to be one of my favorite cartoons ever, so you could say I was more than a little bit disappointed with this. It is about sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, little girls with super powers who use them to fight crime. Everything in this reboot is newer and flashier, and more "Modern", but that is not necessarily a good thing. At a lot of points I feel like they were trying way to hard to be "Hip" with the troll faces and random rap-offs and what not, and I felt it was all very annoying.

They have also exaggerated the negative aspects of the girls personalities. Buttercup was always a bit rude in the original, but her meanness and sarcasm go way too far I feel,  as well her tendency to use modern lingo, like the way she says "Dude" every other word. Bubbles was always the sweet one in the original, but she feels like a bit of annoying weakling now, who is constantly whining. And Blossom, acts smarter but is in fact much more stupid and selfish. In fact all of the girls are complete MORONS now!!! They get duped by the villains and are just plain stupid. And they even let the villain get away in one!!!

Speaking of the villains: Ugghhhhhhhh! Just ugh. The villains that they come up with are so uninspired and bland. The best thing about the original Powerpuff Girls was the villains. In fact Mojo and the others were the reason I watched as a kid! They fun and interesting and maybe even sympathetic, and sometimes even a bit silly! You liked these characters almost as much as the girls so they were fun to watch. I feel like with the new villains they were just checking off some kind of villain box. And the old villains just feel like they are just sort of... there. And they completely missed Mojo's personality.

And the character designs don feel very "Townsville", they are also bland. I am not  sure just what it is but they just feel off and lifeless, like most of the show's animation. Which is better but also worse? It looks newer and shinier but lacks depth and the charm that the original show had. And it has a number of errors, some of which are rather distracting.

I know I should stop comparing this to the original but even by itself it is still bad. All of the aforementioned flaws are just as bad with or without the original. It has dropped things like the narrator and the "Once again the day is saved" yet expects you to know what they are when it makes a random reference out of nowhere. It wants to be it's own thing( and fails) but it also wants ride on nostalgia(and fails) and ends up being rather directionless.

Which leads me to the final and most grievous sin of this show: The Morals. Each episode is obviously trying to teach kids a positive message but does quite the opposite! The level of fail in this particular aspect of this show is epic in how bad it gets things. Like in one episode the girls are forced to go to school after theirs is ruined by a monster, where all of the kids gang up of them and make fun of  them( which is absolutely crazy by itself. You may "Nick but it's school and kids are mean!" but the level of ridicule they get is beyond ridiculous, basically everyone, even the dorks, make fun of them. And of course, they feel like it is horrible and stuff even though they are SUPER HEROES WHO HAVE SAVED THE TOWN MANY TIMES SO EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THEM. And what kind of moron builds a school next to a prison?). Anyway, the girls get the professor( who now has no common sense what so ever) to make them a potion to make them older. He tells them it is dangerous to take to much, but literally 5 seconds later( no joke, it is 5 seconds later) they do and the next morning they turn into old ladies. You'd think that when they get to school they will still be made fun of , BUT everything is great and it all worked out in their favor. And they only turn back because...they want to I guess? And the moral is: Give into peer pressure? Yeah, because that is great thing to be telling kids.

All in all, this show is really bad. Like super bad. It has tons of other internal logic flaws that I did not mention and everyone in it has the intelligence of a pebble, and are all massive jerks. The voices are annoying and I am sure I would be here all day if I had to list everything wrong with this show

Considering Powerpuff Girls was the first cartoon I remember watching, I feel like someone is taking my childhood and forcing me to watch as they beat it over the head with baseball bat. Don't watch this show. I give The Powerpuff Girls(2016) 1 out of 5 stars. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go slam my head against a brick wall for awhile. I'll see you factoring hectopascals later. : o )

A big thanks to my buddy Kyle for helping me with this! Maybe if enough interest is shown I'll make more. I'd like to post a new page twice a week but I am not sure if this will happen. If you liked the comic be sure to tell me as I would love some feedback!!! I probably will be taking a break for a bit to rest but I will be back. Hope you liked it!!!

Announcing Quest Incorporated!!!

Hello, there! I am Nick I'd like to announce my very own webcomic, Quest Incorporated. This is something I've been working on for a while now, but the very issue is nearing completion so I thought I'd give you a heads up. My artwork is not the best I'll admit but hopefully it is good enough and the story is enough tide you over. I'm sure I'll improve with practice.

Anyways it is a comic about two brothers, Ethan and Eddie, their best friend, Jimmy, and their butler who is walking, talking sandwich man, as they get into various adventures with their heroes for hire business. This first is issue is basically a pilot to the whole thing. I think I will be done drawing it in about two weeks, but there may be delay or something. I was originally going to have this idea be a cartoon, but that seemed unrealistic and I am impatient.

I think it will be about 36 issues long, but I may do more after this particular plot line. I have about 30 of the scripts written, and somewhere around 12 are ready to go into comic format. Got lots of revision to do. I think once I start posting the pages I will probably post 1 to 2 a week, depending on how things go.

So anyways that is my comic! If you've got any questions or thoughts, leave a comment! See you in two weeks!

A bit on the Blog

Hey everyone, Nick here and I have just noticed something. We got 700 page views last week! I've got no idea why or anything but that is a huge amount to have in one day! So I've got a question for you. Why do you think we got so many views, and what things would you like to see here on the blog? Do you LIKE the blog? What things do you want me to review? Leave a comment to answer these questions and see you factoring hectopascals later! I've also got a bit of a surprise in store so stay tuned!

An Introduction to: Homestuck

Hello! Chances are if you read the above title you said one of three things to yourself:
"Homestuck! : ) " or "Homestuck! >  :  (" or maybe just
"Huh?"
Note: an image from the comic.
In the case that is was the third answer, worry not because I am here to inform you. Homestuck is a webcomic by Andrew Hussie which you can find here. It is about four kids who play a video game that ends the world. But it is a lot more than that really, so much so that it will take a entire post to just to explain it! A bit of a warning though, it contains a fair amount of strong language so be advised.

Homestuck is a comic done is the style of text based adventure games, and it seems to parody them at first. It also has flash animations and minigames, so it's really more of a web-thing at this point. It also happens to have over 8,000 pages, so it's kinda a doozy.

It starts off about a boy named John Egbert, who receives of a copy of the game Sburb in the mail. Little does he know that playing this game kind of ends the world. So him and his fellow players Rose, Dave, and Jade must play the game in order to escape certain doom.

Homestuck is really a comic about a lot of things, and it starts out with it being a parody of video games. With all the captchalogging shenanigans and other such references. But does it get more complicated, who boy! Homestuck has a long and complicated plot with one thing making it so complicated: Time travel.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!?!?
note: another image( GIF) from the webcomic.
Homestuck has a complicated plot with many confusing factors but somehow I feel it does this well. It's confusing at times to be sure, but it's so well written you can't help but love it( at least me anyways). The characters feel real, the plot is good, it's not afraid to get silly, and it all just has this lovable feeling to it. Homestuck just completed it's run about a week ago, so now it the perfect time to read it. I'd tell you more but Homestuck is best something experienced for yourself.

Anyways that is just my feelings on and introduction to my favorite webcomic ever, so I hoped you enjoyed it. I haven't been posting much because I have a bit of a project coming up in a few weeks, which I will post here. I hope you are looking forward to it. Catch ya later! : o )

The Ending of Gravity Falls

I thought it was perfect. Everything I hoped and the best we could've asked for. Gravity Falls has been my favorite show for awhile and I loved this ending. Everything was wrapped up nicely, with a few hanging plot threats so that we can always come back to it, which I like. All the characters come back for an epic ending. It was the ending of summer and it felt really appropriate. It was very emotion and heartwarming too, I teared up towards the end. I'm sad it's gone but it will always be in my heart forever, and is now my favorite show of all time. That montage at the end was great too. I'll probably do a top ten episodes sometime in the future.

Gravity Falls

I just wanted to let you guys know that the series finale of Gravity Falls is airing tonight, as well as the first half-hour special of Gumball. I'll do some sort of retrospective of GF after or something. Thanks for reading!
